Biography:
Dan McNerney began his insurance career at age
23 with a small career agency, Larry D. Barnes Insurance, specializing
in the Senior Market.
Quickly developed into the top salesman and manager for the Larry D.
Barnes Insurance. Built the agency from 4 to 75 agents throughout the
state of Missouri and increased sales from $500,000.00 to over $6
million in new annual premiums.
January 1990: Bought the Larry D. Barnes Insurance Agency. Renamed the
agency Barnes Insurance Group.
Created a new Brokerage Marketing Division, Senior Marketing
Specialists, to market directly to independent agents. Quickly became a
top Regional Brokerage Marketing Division.
1998 Became the second largest producer nationally for Conseco.
1999: Incorporated as McNerney Management Group, Inc. (MMG, Inc.). MMG,
Inc. became the parent company of Barnes Insurance Group, Senior
Marketing Specialists and Benefit Concepts.
Current:
MMG, Inc. works directly with over 50 career agents and 3,500
independent agents in 16 states and works indirectly with 42,000
independent agents in 48 states. MMG, Inc. currently employs 20
administrative staff.
Member of several insurance company’s Advisory Boards responsible for
product development, implementing new products and marketing campaigns.

Shep and Dan combined their
efforts in 2002 resulting in the formation of Columbia Management
Group. Columbia Management Group works with over 25,000 independent
